6.2 - Mid Season Patch notes


The mid season patch is here! You may download it on the main page, or scrolling down past these notes, but first of all, I want to thank you all for the explosive support my game has received among many streamers during the season 2 patch! On this patch, I want to address some issues that right now pretty much everyone is experiencing, mainly, the pace of progression being way to slow.

I will explain why its like that, what leads to a slow progression and what changes I am making on this midseason patch to rectify that trajectory, first I will talk about the logistics as to why is happening, and a bit about the philosophy behind I consider, further down, you will find in detail all the changes.

Slow pace of progression

Experience gain starts off relative fine between NG+1 to NG+8, but its then when the massive wall hits, suddenly, bosses are way too tanky, they completely outpace the scaling of the players, and feels like every cycle takes forever, that is my bad, the reason why this is happening is due to 2 things: the changes made to ascensions, and the presence of a couple really busted characters that are near mandatory on higher NG+ cycles, further limiting team compositions.

First, the new ascension system rewards +1% EXP bonus to everyone on the party, this has proven to not be enough. Not only that, but I notice on the many channels that I visit, players aren't really ascending all that much in hopes to keep their stats to "reach just a bit further", this patch, will significantly boost the EXP gained and the stats received for ascending, should prove a more enticing option. More information further bellow.

Second, the trio of doom: Fujin, Tifa, and Eiko. This combination while its amazing.... that is precisely the issue, if parties aren't using this team, they pretty much do no meaningful progress, I'm sure those who passed NG+10 has observed that pattern, I am very opposed to nerfing characters, but in this situation, it is necessary to even out the field, and allow more combinations to come to light and not making them to be only choice, this, together with the EXP boost, should make feel the trio of doom got weaker, while the rest of the cast will hit harder.

After this patch, the progression should be and feel significantly faster almost immediately.

Ragtime mouse now will appear to challenge your chat!

Ragtime mouse is a creature in Final Fantasy IX that appears on forest areas randomly through the game. In the original game, it would prompt some True or False question to the player, rewarding with Gil if they get the answer correctly.

In FFBot, Ragtime will also appear from now on! With 150 Trivia questions across all Final Fantasies! It has a 2% chance to appear on every stage transition, and when it does... it will prompt chat with a random question, chat can be respond with !answer, if anyone gets the answer right.... everybody in the party will get a x10 Exp bonus! But don't fall asleep, if nobody gets the answer right, it will flee with the bonus :(

Ragtime can optionally be disabled by the Streamer.

Patch Notes:

  • Fujin now charges her magic from 30% to 10% per use, Her Tornado got potency reduced from 60 to 40 (This brings her in line with other multi-turn characters)
  • Tifa now charges her atk from 30% to 10% per use.
  • Eiko now charges party magic from 30% to 10%, she can however, keep boosting it over and over, before, it would only take effect once.
  • Garnet now charges party atk from 30% to 10%, she can however, keep boosting it over and over, before, it would only take effect once.
  • Sabin is now a Tank.
  • Vaan got all his animations reworked.
  • Maria can now use Aura on Aeris.
  • An option menu has been added! In-game, hover over the options see a description on what they do. More options will be added over time.

  • Ascensions now carry over 50% of your total stats from 35%
  • Ascensions now boost party EXP by 2% per ascension from 1% previously.
  • Ragtime mouse can now appear occasionally! It will ask the chat a random Trivia question about FF, if someone responds correctly, everyone will get x10 the normal experience of that tier!
  • Artifact spawn potency has been buffed. The new ceiling of stats it can generate has increased by a 50%
  • Artifacts that would create Burn, Poison or Freeze conditions now has a 40% of applying them from 20% previously
  • 3 New Espers has been added:
    • Asura: Fully heals you between stages
    • Hades: Reduces Atk and Mag to 0, but makes your Damage Over Time (Dot) potency 3 times stronger.
    • Raiden: Chances to cause Status Conditions (Burn, Freeze, Poison) are 100%.
  • Golem has been reworked: Now it makes whatever character you are using a Tank (Taunt).
  • Crystal and Leviathan now boost Mag and Atk respectively 40% from 25%. They now also sets your maximum HP to 1
  • Madeen now boosts your Atk and Mag to 30% from 20%. Disabling Limit break remains intact.
  • Many old animations are replaced for newer, better ones as usual.

The Future, Season 3, and anniversary:

I will begin to work from here on the Season 3, it will not come for a long while, this is because I want to make the bigger patch yet in celebration of 1 year of the FFbot, thank you all for supporting my stuff for such a long time!
